April Fools

Blog #35 I touched on the fact that broadcasts are coming from TV commentators’ homes and I enjoy seeing what their homes look like. I have noticed some really interesting artwork on walls, bookshelves with unique curios and even some pets wandering around in the background. Today I was watching Bob Pisani on CNBC’s Sqauwk Box. On the walls of his home office he has framed concert posters from The Eagles, Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, etc. I never imagined Bob Pisani to be a Dead Head. But it’s pretty cool to hear him talking about Exchange Traded Funds while trying to figure out what Dead show the poster over his left shoulder is from. Pretty soon Jim Cramer on Mad Money will be answering questions about his collection of Philadelphia sports memorabilia during the Lightening Round. Jimmy Fallon has a really cool house with really rustic log pillars and beams. He also has a circular slide from his upper floor down to his basement. I assume it’s for his kids. But now I know what I want in the next house I move into. Sometimes the Fedex or UPS delivery man drops off a package for our neighbors at our our house. I usually try to get one of my kids to take it over to the neighbors in an effort to avoid a conversation about my rotting fence that aligns their property line. Usually my kids balk at my request for reasons of their own. So up until when my neighbors installed ‘Ring’ doorbell cameras we were dropping off their packages under the cover of night. Since they now have video surveillance I may as well ring their door bell and wait for them to answer. That way I can look in their house and see what kind of interesting artwork is on their walls, see their bookshelves with unique curios and find out what pets are wandering around inside. I guess I will also need to stop skinny dipping in their outdoor hot tub now that I know they have cameras rolling. In a proactive move, I have moved all the really thick books that we own to an area where people can see them when dropping something off at our front door. I moved my Sponge Bob statue out of the front hall to a discreet corner where only I can see it. My framed Farah Fawcett poster (You remember the one with her in the red swimsuit?) has been removed from over the living room fireplace. My collection of NFL bobbleheads is no longer in our dining room. The worm farm that was on our kitchen counter has been moved to a spare bedroom. In short, if anyone shows up at our door or sees us on a Zoom video call we will look a little more respectable.
